Meet the Coaches

Head Coach Adam Kingery:

We had a great time and lots of success last summer and I can’t wait to see more improvement this season from a great group of kids!  I have been around the sport of swimming from a very young age.  I started competing when I was 5 years old on the Rolling Hills Swim Team (a now “filled in” SAAA neighborhood pool on Tucson’s eastside).  I began swimming year round a few years later at Tucson Farmer John, which later became Click’s Tucson Swim Club, Hillenbrand of Tucson, and now Ford Aquatics.  I was on the first Hillenbrand of Tucson National Team and competed in several Junior National Swim Meets. I was an All-American and AZ State Champion (team and individual) at University/Rincon High School.  Due to shoulder complications, I stopped swimming competitively my freshman year of college.  My coaching experience began at Archer Pool coaching the Parks & Recreation summer team for 2 years.  I coached CT in 2003.  Later I was Head Coach at Tucson High for 2 years and was an Asst. at UHS/Rincon.  I’m eager to see how far some of the swimmers from 2003 have come and to meet all the new faces.  I’m psyched to be back for another Marlin Summer!

Assistant Coach Alex Ricker:

Alex started swimming when he was four years old and hasn’t been able to get away from the water since.  He competed year-round at Ventana Canyon for over 14 years, and was a state qualifier and captain for Catalina Foothills High School.  In addition to coaching, Alex has been a lifeguard and water safety instructor for the City of Tucson for the past six years, and has recently joined the UA’s triathlon team. This is his third summer coaching at Catalina Terrace and he is excited to see what is in store for this season.  Go Marlins!

8&Under Coach Devin Price:

Devin is a lifelong Tucsonan, grew up in the SAAA system and swam for Palo Verde High School. Devin took the Water Safety Instructor course for the first time in 1986. He taught for Jim Nance for five years. He has coached swimming for the last thirteen years at Ott Y, then Arizona Gold/El Dorado most recently. Devin really enjoyed his first year at Catalina Terrace in 2009.  Devin is looking forward to the 2010 year to continue working with the great swimmers and families. Feel free to contact him at any time.
